If we gave identical graphic design projects to completely different entities, professional and non-professional, we will notice several variations. The biggest distinction we will notice is that professionally done graphic designs are consistent. On the other hand, the non-professionally done designs don't seem to be. A design can be putting initially, however human minds will not take too long to fully forget it. We need to consistently remind them about our brand through a regular design to remain in their memory permanently. This is why the biggest brands of the planet are thus so much consistent with their designs. So, the following are some factors that describe why consistency is important in graphic design…
As mentioned first, human minds are able to forget things pretty quickly. We might have designed a brand logo that appears good to each eye; however, this is often not enough. In order for us to form an impression in the minds of our audience, it is by repeating the design over and over. So, they begin recognizing it at first look. By repetition, it doesn't mean that we are going to keep showing them the same design over and over. What it very means is that certain components of our design should be followed in our logos, messages, products. This makes us unforgettable and creates the image of a "brand" within the minds of our potential customers.
Once we've created an impact and customers have begun to acknowledge our brand, by simply a selected color scheme or font. It is time for us to keep up that image and keep it alive. Of course, the only method we are able to try this is by staying in line with our designs. One of the most important decisions we will have to make is when we are thinking of making changes in our main logo. We’ve to eliminate the unnecessary elements but keep the most memorable ones alive. If our logo's strength lies in pointy corners of its font, make sure we do not get eliminate it, despite how many changes we have to make to the design.
The success of our business revolves around our discipline. The discipline of business has to be shown to clients through our designs. More consistency we have with our designs, more disciplined we seem to our customers. The same goes for different business partners and affiliates too. Of course, if we are able to be disciplined with our logo and different graphical elements, we'll be expected as disciplined with our product and services yet. This stuff may appear small on the surface; however, as we do tend to still grow into a brand from small business, these efforts can build great variations for our business.
Once we've created a successful logo and also the market has accepted it, our next huge task is simply to be in step with it. It is the uniqueness of our logo, typeface, font size, trendiness, etc. that basically sets us apart from our competitors. The more systematically we present our logo and designs to peoples, the more they settle for us as a novel entity. Several businesses failed or received a harsh reaction from their customers for change in their logos or copying elements from different brands. Our graphic design components are more just like the apparel of our business. If we glance completely different and other people love that about us, all we've to try to be to keep looking completely different through consistency. Keep in mind that making a brand needs us to form continuous efforts. These repeating efforts are only as good as we are consistent.
